As of September 18, 2006, AntiVirus providers are advising users to take extra precautions if they use any version of Microsoft Internet Explorer as a result of a new zero-day attack against the application. The attack leverages a previously unknown vulnerability in Microsoft Internet Explorer. This vulnerability is due to the way Internet Explorer handles Vector Markup Language (VML). Currently, the vulnerabilities are being hosted primarily on adult and pornographic websites and used to attack users visiting those sites to install spyware onto the victim’s machine. It is important to note that although the attacks appear primarily on adult sites at the moment, it is possible that they may spread to other more mainstream websites on the internet. The spyware may include a variety of security risks such as keyloggers that will monitor the keystrokes in an attempt to steal financial and confidential information.
There are no patches available from Microsoft for the vulnerability at this point.
Symantec has analyzed the threat and has provided protection for it via LiveUpdate and Intelligent Update. The current Trojan that leverages the zero-day vulnerability to attack is detected as Trojan.Vimalov. Symantec is also releasing intrusion protection (IPS) signatures to proactively protect customers against attempts to exploit the Internet Explorer vulnerability itself.
Hope this helps

Here's a great way to keep your computer clean (The smart way). Setting up: 1) Download Sygate (you'll have to torrent it because it was bought out) to control what goes in and out of your system. 2) Download Acronis TrueImage (this isn't free so torrent it or something. You'll need a key) 3) Download a free antivirus (clamWin, NOD32, etc). Free antivirus software are just as good as the norton ones. (Besides, getting a virus using a free antivirus will make you smarten up. While getting a virus using norton antivirus will make you furious) 4) Download a free spyware program. This will destroy all spyware in your computer Procedure: 1) Scan your computer for both spyware and viruses. Make sure it's clean. 2) Configure Sygate with your usual applications that you use and don't use. (this can be done by using the program and having sygate ask you if you trust it or not) 3) Allow Windows Update (mise as well) 4) After all of that being done, create a backup image of your entire system (approx 1/2 of the space you're currently using) and keep it somewhere safe. 5) Update that image every few months. If you get a virus that you can't get rid of, just use the backup. 6) Don't use unknown EXEcutable files. This goes for Baker's EZ Installers and Quake Launchers (he refused to show me the source code. That just raised my suspision) But the best tip I could probably lend is: "USE LINUX"

Hrm. I use Zone alarm basic one. I can upgrade to pro.. but not sure if my computer will work right. I also use AVG free which has been doing a good job for me. I use The Cleaner(founded at moosoft.com) for trojans. I also use Spyblaster. I'll usually run all this once a week while im at school. For the cleaner. You DO NOT have to pay for it. Just talk to me and I'll hook you up with a crack so you dont have to pay.
I just wanted to tell people what I use so they can get an idea of what to get and what works for them. I've used ZA for a long time. I haven't had any hackers get into my computer. I've had hackers try to get into my computers. But they cant.. Either they suck to much or ZA+ my router are doing a good job.
