This should work in windows XP and windows 2000 as far as I know. After you have a game launched, alt tab out and go to the task manager. You should be able to see the games .exe (like gunz.exe, bf1942.exe for some examples) Right click on it and set its priority to High. This should gain you some extra FPS, so there's your better performance. Also if you run a torrenting client you can set its priority to low, it needs very little CPU power to download stuff to your computer. Quick edit: you should be able to do this with everything, provided 1. The operating system doesn't lock you out of the .exe 2. You know the .exe's and what they belong to Take a virus scan for example. If you put it's priority on realtime (if you are scanning it's going to cripple your system anyway) it should speed things up.
