SciTech offers incredible 3rd party video card drivers that exceed the manufacturers drivers in performance. I shit you not. These boys are top flight. All they do is video drivers and focus on being the best at it. Here is there HOMEPAGE I actually discovered them reading the WinQuake README. Recommended by ID no less. The best and latest ATI drivers for my card would not run WinQuake without being in the safest, crappiest mode. Otherwise my whole system would freeze. SciTech fixed all that. It now can run WinQuake balls to the wall. I am able to run videos I couldn't before. It added 15 graphics modes to my card. VBE supoort etc. From older drivers(tripled performance on old ATI MACH64 on this old PC) to drivers for the newer cards. A lot of them are FREE. Create an account, fill out the info and it will tell you if it's got the driver for your Video card. Actually, here is a list of the cards they make drivers for HEREYou are allowed I think two downloads a week so don't screw up and lose where you downloaded the drivers. Sign up and Driver Downloads.Give them a try. If your video card is listed as one they support, I don't think you'll be disappointed one bit.

And since my roommate wanted one, might as well use the second driver download I'm allowed.

I don't know... how can a 3rd party co make better drivers than the people who made the chipset? I'll try it though

They make better drivers because that is all they do is drivers. Nvidia and ATI etc, they mostly focus on the hardware. They are a hardware company. Its like they put a barely functional driver out then update it a little bit every two weeks or so when the people who bought their video cards start screaming at them it's not doing shit it should. So they do a little work on the drivers just to keep consumers off their back but drivers are not their thing. Their thing is mainly the hardware. If you'll notice on the SciTech homepage ATI is a development partner with SciTech. Which mean ATI let's them in on the inside info on the hardware so SciTech can make the best drivers possible for it. You can get the ATI ones for free that are put together sloppily, but the SciTech ones would smoke it. And if it's free, then it didn't cost you anything. Drivers for some of the newer cards do cost money. If you don't like it, remove that POS.

had to reinstall nvidia drivers the scitech didnt work. 2fps in glpro and everything's white!! Oddly enough, I had problems with the latest build as well. Wouldn't reboot, or froze up on reboot. I had to go back to old build. I sent them an email. Are you sure you got the right graphics card?

had to reinstall nvidia drivers the scitech didnt work. 2fps in glpro and everything's white!! Make sure your card is supported and you chose to download the right build for your card. Here is from the support FAQ My Game / Application Does Not Work With GLDirect If you have a game or application that does not work with GLDirect, you may want to try updating the graphics drivers for your video card. GLDirect relies on the Direct3D supplied by your graphics driver to provide OpenGL support on top of.Try keeping your original UPDATED driver installed. It appears the build for yours MAY WORK WITH the driver for your card if your card is supported. Also, give me the info on your graphics card, what kind it is etc. I'll include it in an email to them.

@ CanadianSniper, Your card appears to be the same as my roommates. And Scitech supports Linux I do believe.

Yeah, that's it. Although I may have chose the wrong chipset. When they asked for chipset were they asking for your mobo chipset or video card chipset??

Yeah, that's it. Although I may have chose the wrong chipset. When they asked for chipset were they asking for your mobo chipset or video card chipset?? LOL! They were asking for your video card chipset. And what OS you use. Yours is obviously the Nvidia GeForce FX 5200 which is supported. Make sure you have the latest manufacturer driver for your video card installed. Then let SciTech work WITH it. See how that does. I still gotta solve the freezing up on shutdown with mine on the new build. But the old build still kicks mucho ass over the manufacturers latest and greatest for it. I'm interested to see how well this works for you.
